What are your favorite organic products?
Meryl: I prefer natural beauty treatments and products. I try to put oil in my hair once a week, which is a traditional Indian beauty ritual to keep hair healthy and shiny. I am currently using Amla oil but I alternate between different types of oil (Coconut, Argan, etc.).
Further I like natural beauty masks (egg white for the face and very fine green clay for the scalp).
In terms of products, I use Dr. Hauschka, especially their Revitalising Day Cream and I recently discovered and became a fan of Weleda’s Cold Cream for the face. I also enjoy going to the different Moroccan and North African hammams, which we are fortunate to have quite a lot of in Paris.
What is your favorite ‘green’ dining venue in Paris?
Meryl: When I get cravings for Indian food I like to head over to Saravanaa Bhavan which is a pure vegetarian Indian restaurant near Gare du Nord.
What is your favorite hangout spot in Paris?
Meryl: I like to walk along the banks of the Seine, which is admittedly a quite touristy thing to do but it must be my “American in Paris” side!
The city is obviously overflowing with artistic and cultural events. I like to go to the Palais de Tokyo, the exhibits at the Grand Palais, and sometimes just hang out at the Louvre in the evenings. Whenever I get a chance, I love to take in a ballet at L’Opéra Garnier or L’Opéra Bastille. I also try to seek out green where I can at Parc de Vincennes and Jardin de Luxembourg.
In terms of bars and restaurants, I enjoy Wanderlust and the restaurants lining Quai de la Gare, the restaurant on top of the Institut du Monde Arabe, the China Club for the decor that’s evocative of a 1920s Shanghai Opium den – or what one would imagine one to look like. For drinks I visit the Candelaria bar or Silencio which is also a club.
