In The Spotlight: NEEMIC

The sustainable Beijing-based fashion label goes for high end comfort this season

We’re into anything that merges beautiful design with a love for our planet, and this season’s offering from sustainable Chinese label, NEEMIC hasn’t disappointed. Designed by Amihan Zemp, the collection features a range of pieces from sequined and silky floor length gowns to cosy draped knits; workwear to a saturday night showstopper. Zemp says that she always follows a particular mood when creating her collections and the feeling of relaxation and comfort comes through here, with the use of limited edition soft mohair yarn, luxe silk linings and oversized, natural cuts for the pieces. Think of that feeling you have on a quiet afternoon, when you are completely relaxed in your surroundings and feel perfectly at home; all the colors, shapes and textures of this collection are designed to evoke that feeling – however and wherever you wear them.

This season’s star piece goes to the 3/4 length white Alpaca fur and silk coat, functional enough to layer up with an evening gown or pare down with a cozy knit and denim. Trend hunters will also love the sleeveless dress over pants styles with ease, and bask in the ultra-luxe silk coat dress. Above all, though, we’re applauding the brand for their use of GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) fabrics, with the designers sourcing organic ramie (a lightweight and silky fibre) that’s grown and hand-woven by traditional Chinese communities. Their unique fabrics are also gathered from leftover high-end fashion market suppliers, and partner with local tailors in China. Clothes with conscience? That’s our kind of style.
